Caregiver Reminder: Keep These Documents & Certifications Up to Date!

At Kupuna Life, we value the incredible care and aloha our caregivers provide every day. To ensure we meet state requirements and continue providing safe, high-quality services to our clients, it’s important that all caregivers stay current with their required documents and certifications.

Whether you’re new to caregiving or a seasoned pro, here’s your friendly reminder to check that your documents are complete, up to date, and on file with the office.

Required Documents & Certifications

1. Background Checks & Clearances

    • Completed State of Hawaii criminal background check
    • Check of adult abuse registry and sex offender registry
    • Fingerprinting (if required by role)

Tip: Notify us if you’ve had any changes in your legal status, address, or employment history that may affect your clearance.

2. CPR & First Aid Certification

    • Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification
    • First Aid certification

Both must be kept current and active, please let the office know at least 30 days before your renewal date.

3. Health Requirements

    • Recent Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
    • Vaccination records (COVID-19, flu, or others if required by client assignment or agency policy)
    • Any other agency-required health screenings

If you haven’t submitted your TB clearance in the last 12 months, please schedule your screening as soon as possible.

4. Proof of Identity & Eligibility to Work

    • Valid government-issued ID (Hawaii State ID, Driver’s License, or Passport)
    • Social Security card or other work eligibility documentation

Let us know if any of your documents are expiring soon!

5. Training & Competency

    • Completed orientation training
    • Proof of competency in caregiving skills (e.g. ADLs, transfers, infection control)
    • Specialized training (for dementia care, Hoyer lift use, etc., as needed)

Ask us about upcoming in-service training, we offer several options to meet your yearly continuing education requirements.

6. References & Employment History

    • Up-to-date employment record/resume
    • At least 2–3 professional references (for new hires)

7. Vehicle Documents (If you drive clients)

    • Valid Hawaii Driver’s License
    • Proof of car insurance and registration
    • Clean driving abstract (if applicable)

Let us know if your driving eligibility has changed.
